Privacy policy

Styk is in development. This page explains what thestyk.com, the Styk launch list and the Styk web app collect, and what we do with it. In short: we keep your email address to send you Styk news, and the app keeps your tag data on your own device.

The launch list

  • When you join, we collect your email address and anything else the signup form asks for. Our email service, MailerLite, stores it for us, together with the date and time you signed up and technical details such as your IP address, which record that you asked to join.
  • We use it only to send you news about Styk, such as launch updates, early access and launch pricing. We don't sell or rent it to anyone.
  • Our emails may record whether they were opened and which links were clicked, so we can see what's useful.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing hello@thestyk.com. We'll also delete your details on request.
  • The signup form is provided by MailerLite and may use Google reCAPTCHA to block automated signups.

This website

  • thestyk.com is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security.
  • The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers when a page opens.
  • We don't run advertising or analytics on this site. The signup form loads from MailerLite, which may set cookies it needs for the form to work.

The Styk web app

  • The app at thestyk.com/app keeps your tags, their names and their last-seen history in your browser's storage on your own device. It is not sent to us.
  • If you allow location access, the app notes where your phone was when it last saw each tag, and keeps that on your device too.
  • Bluetooth connections run directly between your browser and your tag.
  • When you open the map, your browser downloads the map images for that area from OpenStreetMap's servers.
  • To erase your data, use Delete everything in the app's settings, or clear this site's data in your browser. Download a copy saves your data to a file first.

Children

The website and launch list aren't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove them.

Changes

If anything here changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Before Styk tags go on sale, we'll expand this policy to cover orders and any accounts.
