Thin enough to go anywhere.
Most trackers are coins or rigid cards, so they hang off keyrings or live in wallets. Styk is a sticker. It sits flat on the thing itself, on a laptop lid, inside a notebook cover or on the side of a tool case.

What's inside a Styk
Solar window
Turns room light and daylight into power and trickle-charges the battery.
Rechargeable cell
A thin, flat battery that stores that energy for nights, drawers and dark bags.
Bluetooth chip
Sends a small encrypted signal every couple of seconds that your phone recognizes as yours.
Buzzer
A flat speaker that chirps when you tap Play sound in the app.
Adhesive back
A strong peel-and-stick layer for smooth surfaces like laptop lids, plastic cases, metal and wood.
Protective top film
Seals everything in against scratches, splashes and everyday wear.
How it works
Peel and stick
Peel off the backing and press Styk onto anything you don't want to lose.
Pair it once
Scan the code on the sticker with the Styk app to make it yours.
Your phone keeps watch
Whenever your phone is near your Styk, the app quietly notes when and where it last saw it.
Find it
Check when and where it was last seen, then tap Play sound to hear exactly where it is.
Styk has no GPS of its own. Location comes from your phone when it's nearby.
Your tags, in one app.
The Styk app shows every tag you own, how much charge it has and where your phone last saw it. It runs in your web browser, so there's nothing to download.
Play sound
One tap and your Styk beeps, so you can follow the sound to it.
Last seen on a map
Each time your phone sees a tag, the app saves the time and place, with directions back to it.
Battery and solar
See how full each tag is and whether its solar cell is topping it up.
Left-behind alerts
A warning when your phone loses touch with a tag while the app is open.
No account needed
Your tags and their locations stay on your phone, not on a server.
Real tags connect in Chrome on Android, and in Chrome or Edge on a computer. On iPhone the demo works today; a native iPhone app is planned.
Made for the things that wander off.
Anything with a flat surface can carry a Styk, which opens up places a keyring tracker can't go, for people and for businesses.
At home and on the go
- Laptops, tablets and e-readers
- Notebooks, planners and textbooks
- Wallets, passport holders and luggage
- Remotes, bikes and sports gear
At work
- Tools and equipment that leave the job site
- Shared gear, loaners and rental items
- Returnable cases, bins and containers
- Samples and parts moving through quality checks
Tools for teams, such as a shared dashboard and bulk pairing, are on the roadmap.
Private by design.
A tracker should help you find your things, never help someone follow a person. Styk is being built with safeguards from the start.
A signal that keeps changing
Styk regularly changes the identifier it broadcasts, so a fixed signal can't be followed.
Alerts that make noise
If a Styk that isn't yours travels with you for hours, it's designed to chirp so you can find it.
Yours to control
Only you can pair your tags, and you can remove one from your account at any time.
For investors
Styk is an early-stage hardware company building a new form factor for item tracking: flat, flexible and powered by light.
The opportunity
Phone-based item trackers have gone mainstream, but nearly all of them are coins or cards. That shape limits where they can go and how many a person will buy. A tracker that sticks flat onto almost anything reaches surfaces and products the current shapes can't.

Questions
Will I ever need to charge it?
Styk is designed to top itself up from normal indoor light and daylight. If it spends long stretches in the dark, like the bottom of a drawer, the battery slowly runs down. Bring it back into the light and it recharges.
Does Styk have GPS?
No. Styk sends a small Bluetooth signal. Your phone notices it when it's nearby and records when and where that happened, which is what you see as "last seen" in the app.
Which phones will it work with?
The Styk app runs in your web browser at thestyk.com/app, with nothing to download. Real tags connect in Chrome on Android, and in Chrome or Edge on a computer. iPhone browsers don't allow Bluetooth yet, so on iPhone you can try the demo now while a native iPhone app is planned. We're also exploring the phone makers' own finding networks, which would let other people's phones help locate a lost Styk; that depends on each company's certification program.
Can someone use a Styk to track me?
Styk is being designed to prevent that. Its broadcast identifier changes regularly, and a Styk that travels with someone other than its owner for hours is designed to chirp so it can be found. We plan to follow the industry's standards for detecting unwanted trackers.
Is it waterproof?
It's being designed to handle splashes and rain. The final water-resistance rating will be confirmed in testing.
What will it cost, and when can I get one?
The target retail price is $19.95. Styk is in development, so final pricing and dates will come closer to launch. People on the launch list hear first.
